Jim Fielding’s work is informed by the juxtaposition of the natural world with the imagined and man made. The images have a multitude of sources including the artist’s travels and his fascination with man made objects, theatrical sets and their inherent illusion.
His prints and drawings have an instant appeal, inviting the viewer into a world that has a twist to the story. A boat that cannot leave harbour, divided halves of a pantomime horse or a bird box suspended in the sky. The subjects appear to be captured in a moment of time. A narrative contained within one image.
Jim is a graduate from Camberwell School of Art and Royal College of Art. He lives and works in London and is a Senior Lecturer at University of the Arts London, Camberwell College and the University of the Creative Arts, Maidstone.
