Mark Hearld

Born in 1974, Mark studied illustration at Glasgow School of Art before completing an MA in Natural History Illustration at the Royal College of Art.

Inspired by the flora and fauna of the British countryside, Mark works across a range of media, producing limited-edition lithographs and linocuts, alongside unique paintings, collages and hand-painted ceramics.

We share Mark’s admiration for artist-designers such as Edward Bawden, Peggy Angus and John Piper, all celebrated for bridging the worlds of fine art and commercial design.

Mark has completed commissions for Faber & Faber and Tate, and in 2012 Walker Books published a children’s book illustrated with a series of his distinctive collages.

In Autumn 2012 Merrell Books published Mark Hearld's Work Book - the first book devoted to Mark's work. And in 2022 we published Mark's most recent book, Raucous Invention - The Joy of Making.
