A few words from Jonny about this print...
“‘The Night Sorter’s Blues’ is inspired by a little known song of the same name, by an obscure Edinburgh band, then called the Alvy Singers. I played guitar with them, from 1990-93 and this song has always had a profound influence on me. I drew this print on a Sunday afternoon, exposed it on to screens with the additional separations by Monday lunchtime, and printed the black, final layer on Tuesday morning. I’ve included the folly on Calton Hill, as it’s important to walk up this hill any time you are in Auld Reekie.”
ABOUT OUR ORIGINAL PRINTS
Most of the works we offer are original prints, made using traditional printmaking techniques such as linocut, wood engraving, lithography, screenprint and etching. Each process has its own particular character, from the carved marks of relief printing to the drawn or painterly qualities of lithography and screenprint.
