One of her alphabet series of prints, Emily shares the inspiration for this limited edition print...
"I came up with the idea for this print watching the barn owls swoop around the field at my parents' house. The aesthetic takes inspiration from old German educational charts as well as the display of a large variety of owl species in an exhibition at Scarborough Museum curated by Mark last summer. I had fun with the mark making in this one, experimenting with different ways of layering up textures and colours on the owls' wonderful plumage."
ABOUT OUR ORIGINAL PRINTS
Most of the works we offer are original prints, made using traditional printmaking techniques such as linocut, wood engraving, lithography, screenprint and etching. Each process has its own particular character, from the carved marks of relief printing to the drawn or painterly qualities of lithography and screenprint.
You can read more about the different printmaking methods in our guide to print mediums.
