Julia is based in South London where she trained at Camberwell School of Art & crafts and has a BA degree in Fine Art. Julia’s work is primarily drawing based, sometimes layered with paper cuts and collaged maps. She also produces limited edition prints.
‘I look for the evidence of nature I can hold in my hand from my suburban garden to what I discover on my travels to the sea or the countryside. Nature makes me a witness to events, creatures and objects I don’t always fully understand; my drawings and collections of things help me form a bridge between my urban living and the natural world.
‘I look for bones, plants, insects and birds, I celebrate the fragile, the forgotten, the broken and the beautiful.’
Julia exhibits widely and in 2013 had an atlas page drawing acquired by the British Library to add to the National collection of antiquarian maps.
