Born in 1959, Peter Clayton studied Fine Art at Preston Polytechnic, Lancaster. Since then he has been exhibiting his paintings and limited linocut prints at galleries throughout the UK – with a number of solo exhibitions at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal, Tib Lane Gallery, Manchester, Rugby Art Gallery & Museum, Leicester University and Vaughan College, Leicester.
Peter has also completed a number of residencies and commissions – include a series of 30 mixed media paintings for P & O Cruise Liners ‘Arcadia’, prints based on the Social History collection of Rugby Art Gallery and a book cover for Faber & Faber.
We’re pleased to feature Peter’s energetic linocut prints which in many ways reflect the spirit of Edward Bawden. His work has been inspired by travels around Norfolk and Cumbria and recently he has been creating ‘portraits’ based on his family history.
